High Plains Energy, Inc., (HPE), a Colorado corporation, (formerly known as Benergy, Inc., a California corporation), is a 26 year old General Engineering/Electrical Contracting company with experience in the alternative energy market, commercial photovoltaic (PV), wind farm and micro hydro projects. The Company also has extensive experience in design build of electrical and lighting, backbone for fiber optic and high voltage systems and design-build of automation systems. The Company and the sole shareholder relocated from California to Colorado in August 2004 in order to seek opportunities in the alternative energy markets.  

HPE has completed PV projects in excess of 2,000kW. The largest project thus far was a 500kW for Chevron-Texaco in Fellows, California. Other clients in which the Company completed larger projects include the City of Anaheim, Nuetrogena, United States Forest Service and the United States Postal Service. 

The Company has extensive Public Works experience, which includes specification and design-build turnkey projects. Our mission is to utilize this experience in the promotion and procurement of alternative energy projects for residential, commercial and public works applications.

HPE has identified opportunities to become a significant player in alternative energy development projects in the state of Colorado and surrounding states. The current political and economic climate in the United States has created an increased awareness for the development of alternative energy sources. HPE will be specializing in developing alternative energy projects, which focus on solar, wind, and micro-hydro applications as well as ethanol production.
